Beginner’s Photography Class 2011

Feb. 28, 2011  from  5:30 pm – 9:30 pm

If you’re interested in photography and learning how to make the most of that big camera you got for Christmas, sign up for our Beginner’s Photography Class. We’ll cover the basics of camera settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance), composition, and some lighting techniques; and multiple instructors will be available for questions and extra help.  This class is a “prerequisite” of sorts for our upcoming intermediate classes and advanced glamour classes, so whether you know a little or a lot, we hope to see you there!

$65 if you pay in advance, $75 at the door

A couple of notes:

Please bring your DSLR camera if possible and please read your instruction book that came with your camera

and learn the most you can about your camera before you come to class.

This class is limited to 10 people and expected to fill up fast.

Send us an email or facebook message or call 704-869-8968 for more info or to sign up.

We <3 Erin D.

By Dodie  //  Blog  //  Comments Off

To be honest we love all of our brides, they’re stylish and beautiful and we have been to some really great weddings.  Erin’s was no exception.  She and Andy got hitched at Baker Buffalo Creek in Fallston, NC (Cleveland County).  You probably won’t believe this, but I’ve actually narrowed down the pictures I’m posting a lot.

So here are a few from Erin’s bridal session.  She makes us look GOOD :-)  .

“Jeffanie”

By Dodie  //  Blog  //  Comments Off

We shot a great wedding  in Concord, NC.  Stephanie {the bride} and Jeffrey {the groom} are a fun couple who where up for absolutely anything.  They didn’t even mind when the minister got a little tongue-tied and called them “Jeffanie” during the ceremony; thus coining their celebrity couple nickname.

So here are my personal

3  Favorite Things About The Layden/Luck Wedding:

3. The Details:

Stephanie has great taste and chose beautiful flowers, shoes, jewelry… I loved it all.

2.  The Cute Wedding Party

These pictures pretty much cover it.

1.  The Couple

Their names are Stephanie and Jeff, and they came to party.  These two  gave us lots of time to get cool shots, danced like crazy at their reception, and kept me cracking up the whole night.

Meredith

By Dodie  //  Blog  //  2 Comments

At i.g., we do lots of different kinds of pictures: maternity, families, kids, weddings.  What I’m saying is we do a lot more than just high school seniors, but I have to admit, we do good high school seniors, and I love to put them on the blog.  I can’t resist posting Meredith’s pictures any longer.  For these, i.g. shot on location at the stables where Meredith works part time.

So here is sweet Meredith:

Beautiful right? Some people get all the luck… and all the strawberry blonde hair… and all the blue eyes…

Hair and makeup by Becky from William Henry Signature Salon and Spa in Belmont, NC.

 {Seriously, go see her, she cut my hair this morning and she’s great.}

’64

We have been working with Rocks Magazine lately to create their “Carolina Girl” Calendar.  While the photographs in the calendar will ultimatley feature the Carolina Girls themselves, we can’t share those with the internet world yet.   Last night we photographed Renee from Organic Marketplace and what we can give you is a little sneak peak at the prop she brought along.  A 1964 Carolina blue Ford Galaxy.

Senioritis

By Dodie  //  Blog  //  Comments Off

Taylor here!  I have one of the best jobs in the world working for one of the best photography studios in the world.  Part of that job will be writing most of the blog entries for i.g.

With school starting back in Gaston, Lincoln, and Mecklenburg counties this week, we’ve been hearing a lot from the class of 2011 about how it feels to be top dog.  My youngest brother is a high school senior this year and I recently asked how his first day of school went. “Did you knock over any freshman today?”, I said jokingly.   He replied, “Maybe, I don’t know.  I was doing Hardcore Parkour (a sort of “extreme walking”) through the halls all day so… possibly.”  It feels good to be a senior, right?  That kind of excitement and individuality is what we try to capture in all of our senior sessions here at i.g.  So, in the name of “back to school” time,  here are two seniors we recently photographed.

First, an East Gaston grad, Emily.

I love Emily’s dress! All of her outfits were really cute and she has a great sense of style.

Around the studio we’ve been calling this “the Twilight picture” – it’s a little dark, a little edgy.  And I haven’t read Stephenie Meyer’s novels, but from what I hear vampires are really really ridiculously good-looking.  Everytime we are talking to a parent or student about a senior session, we always have to bring out the Twilight picture to show off.

And now Macy.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Macy since she was a really little girl. It was fun to be a part of her shoot and see what a beautiful, intelligent woman she has become!

Our photographers are always trying to scope out new and unexpected locations for shoots.  Scott (who photographed Macy) has been using the Gastonia Post Office across the street for lots of seniors and brides lately.

Oh, and she brought her cute dog who was really well behaved.

Congratulations to Emily, Macy, my hardcore baby brother, and the entire class of 2011!  Twelve years down and only one more to go (:
